If the big board outside the British School doesn't say enough, try checking your twitter feed, newspaper or even your TV. You are sure to hear a mention of Anything Goes, the amazing production put on by the British School in Colombo, from all those who were fortunate enough to see it.

Running from the 22nd to 24th of March,  the play was directed by the extremely talented director of drama, Mr Shane MikleJohn, and the renowned musical director Mrs Shamistha de Silva, and run on a wonderfully constructed set. From its commencement to its finale the actors and actresses never failed to deliver.

The main characters, Billy Crocker and Reno Sweeney, played by the wonderful actors Gavin Karunayake and Esha Mohammed, constantly delighted the audience with dramatic flourishes and spontaneous singing, while their delightful crew, specially ——- showed off talents well worthy of being displayed on Broadway.

In typical P.G. Wodehouse manner, there is confusion throughout the play and various go wrong that are eventually righted. Supported by a great cast Gavin and Eshado a fantastic job of both acting and singing.

The cast and crew were well versed in their placements and roles ran the ship almost like a real crew, all the songs and dances extremely well choreographed. The actors and dancers and choristers moved seamlessly around the set , which indicated that many hours of pactice have gone into fine tuning this wonderful production. Coupled with a highly efficient backstage crew and lighting team, the play was certainly a major hit with audience members of all ages!

The loyalty and dedication of the actors and actresses through months of hard work, late nights and memorizing lines certainly paid off as the show was one of the best seen in Colombo. If you were fortunate enough to get a chance to dive into the wonderful story, be mesmerized by the cast and crew and join in a loud ovation at the end, you will have experienced one of the best nights of your life!
