Shawarma Sandwich


For 2 Person(s)

  • 2 Pita or Arabic bread
  • 200 g boneless chicken, diced
  • 1 large onion(s) thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp curd
  • 1 tsp chilli powder - or more as needed
  • 0.5 tsp garam masala powder
  • 0.5 tsp cumin powder
  • 0.5 tsp coriander powder
  • 0.25 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup(s) mozzarella cheese


    Prepare the filling
  1. In a bowl, mix the chicken well with all the spices and curd.
  2. In a pan, heat the oil. Add the onions and fry until golden brown.
  3. Add the spiced-up chicken into the pan and mix everything well. Cover and
    cook until chicken is done.
  4. Add salt to taste.
  5. Open lid and cook on high heat until any gravy in the chicken is gone. The
    filling should be thick and not runny with gravy.
  6. Assemble the shawarma sandwiches
  7. Cut each pita bread across to divide it into two separate pieces.
  8. On the bottom half, spread the shawarma filling around.
  9. Top it with grated mozzarella.
  10. Close with the top half of the bread. Press lightly to seal.

  12. Bake
  13. Preheat oven at 250 degrees.
  14. Place the shawarma sandwiches on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  15. Place the baking tray inside the oven closest to the top heat source.
  16. Bake for 5-7 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden brown.
