French Toast Roll-ups

  • 4 slices sandwich bread
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 20 ml milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla essence
  • 0.25 tsp powdered cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • icing sugar (optional)


  • 4 tbsp cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2 tbsp icing sugar
  • 0.13 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 large strawberries, diced


  1. Cut the bread crusts and roll out each slice nice and thin using a rolling pin or glass.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the egg, milk, cinnamon, vanilla and salt.
  3. For the cream cheese filling, mix the cream cheese along with icing sugar and lemon zest and set aside.
  4. Apply a spoonful of your filling on a slice of bread and top it with some diced strawberries. Roll the bread and set aside.
  5. Heat a pan with butter. Dip the rolled bread in the egg mix and coat well. Place the rolls on the pan, flip and cook until the rolls are golden brown.
  6. Once done you could dust the rolls with a dash of icing sugar - optional.
  7. Serve warm.
